My first post, the drum loop...
I had a really hard time with this... and you can probably tell with the way it sounds. I'm never really drawn to the percussion of a song, so i was REALLY hesitant to try this. I guess it ended up sounding okay, but i was a bit rushed after missing school. I wanted the loop to sound a bit dancey, like something anyone could move to. So i looked for some nice sounding bass drums, and put an upbeat overlay of clapping and hi hats and things like that.

This is actually pretty nice, especially if you aren't used to thinking of percussion.Its interesting that it has some parts that sound slightly syncopated, but you can still feel a pleasant and steady rhythym with a catchy beat. the ending was pretty nice, too.
ReplyDeleteOverall, I like it, but I think the pace is set a little too fast and there are either a lot of sounds, or a lot of the same sounds, especially clapping. I like the fills in it.
ReplyDeleteAll good loops Alex. I like the way you connected them too. Intricate play between the kick and the snare, and everything was well balanced. The only thing I didn't like was overuse of the crash cymbal. Try to reserve your cymbal hits for emphasis only when you emphasize everything, you really emphasize nothing.
